Friendship Love
Poem
~ Where Are We Now?
by Maria H
You're
only alive in my memories and daydreams
And pictures of you make me relive happy days
No I am ashamed of the hollow smiles we keep
When some decide to trek down memory lane
Afraid to spill the beans on how we really feel
Afraid to let go all inhibitions and just say those
little words that mean so much
"I miss you"
Who are we if not to think back at the times we
spent together
The friendships we shared
The classes we hated
And how such alliances can make an early Monday
morning worth it
We did things for each other and because of each
other
We said things that hurt but also helped
When all odds were against us
And times seemed horrendous
With a never-ending school year after year after
year
We formed a bond
We made our own little family
Our own little community
Instead of six at the dinner table passing plates
We sat at noon at our wooden desks
Talking topics from politics to hair products
That was the life we knew
That was the way we knew it
We know that each other lives on
But how do we care for whom we do not longer know?
The separation of friends who dare not be separated
Is a sad affair
And now as we are forced to make new bonds
Some how mediocre to the way we knew it
We will always wonder
Where are we now?
Until those little words work their magic.
