Friendship Love
Poem
~ Silence For The Sake Of Friendship
by Thomas B. Collins
Lately
I’m lost.
Mixed signals are obstructing my vision.
The one person who truly knows
Me and my story,
Is the unintentional antagonist in this chapter.
We balance awkwardly on a tightrope
Between the best of friends,
And something more.
But this all-consuming feeling within me
Must forever remain dormant,
For fear of destroying what is already there.
Be it platonic, and monotonous, and painful,
I cherish it. And fear losing you more than
anything.
So I remain here, down on my knees.
Always begging for one more tiny sign,
That shows me that the feeling is mutual.
A glance.
A smile.
A touch.
Anything.
At all.
How I wish you could hear
This one tiny plea,
So I could tell you
What you really mean to me:
“Please…I love you….”
