Desired Love Poem
~ Resisting Love
by Shoana Padayachee
The depth of my love
Its insatiable thirst
Mystifies my mind
And this is a first…
I am an addict
You’re like a drug to me
From this addiction
I cannot break free…
Love this is not
Lust it could never be
A yearning so unfulfilled
A desire within me…
A fire that cannot be extinguished
A hunger I cannot fill
To love you once more
I have not the will…
Your name scorched on my heart
Your face imprinted in my mind
A way out of the wilderness
On my own I must find…
No clues I have found
There’s nothing that I haven’t tried
This craving will remain I’m sure
Long after you and I have died…
To hold on I no strength
Letting go I’ve already done
The war is not yet over
But this battle I’ve not won…
One last try
An opportunity to get it right
I cannot give up so easily
I have to stay and fight…
This fight needs me to not resist
That is what I’ll do
And when I cease to resist how I feel
Then maybe I’ll finally be over you…
