My dear, sweet gentle Jesus
I come to You in prayer
Knowing You are listening
And always knowing Your aware.

I know You see each step I take
You know just where I've been
Yet Your always there to welcome me
As always - my Lord, my Friend

You suffered so upon the Cross
To take our sins away
Then our Father raised You up
As He took You home that day

I know you had no shame at all
You are the perfect man
God sent You here to show to us
What we just didn't understand

You are the example
We are but the 'clay'
Waiting for our molding
As You send us on our way

Please gentle Jesus touch me
Others may not understand
How your tender, gentle touch
Somehow completes His plan

Give me the strength to somehow
Give shelter to some soul
Whose thinking no one even cares
And feeling so alone

I was searching when I found
Your grace - forever free
I had no right for solace
That was waiting there for me

My dear, sweet, gentle Jesus
I hope that You do know
You are the very breath I breathe
And with me as I go

Into this world of chaos
Of ignorance, sin and pain
Knowing in my heart of hearts
You will be back again

Should I be waiting when You come
Lord, right here I'll stay
For life's story is always written
By what life brings our way

Life brought You, my dear Jesus
And somehow this I know
You never will forsake me
You'll take me with You as You go

My dear, sweet, gentle Jesus
Even taking time for me
I give my heart, my soul, my life
Knowing You have set me forever free
