My Inspiration

Context: I was asked by a very good friend to write poetry for him that he was going to include in a picture book for his girlfriend… This poem is for picture of him giving her a rose on her graduation day


On this special day
Of your graduation
I looked at you
With a deep appreciation

Within you I saw
A woman of power
As strong as a gale force
As gentle as a flower

Down on one knee
Handing you the rose
My veneration towards you
I there disclosed

For in that moment with you
I was inspired
And you were all
That I admired

Now reminiscing
In pure adoration
You are still
My inspiration...
