Forgive the Fool

Fool was I
Who fell for him
Forgive me father
For I am sin

Blindfolded by lies
He led me in
Forgive me mother
For I gave no fight

Brilliant patches of light
Gorged my darkened heart
Felt unsafe, yet loved
Forgive me heart, I was a fool

Truth turned lies
Love turned hate
Seriousness turned insignificant
Intimacy turned remoteness

Never said Thank you
Never said Please
Only words spoken
Were those of good-bye….
