A Poem for Karyn

I turned to look and you were there
The essence of what is beautiful and rare

A moment to me, frozen in time
An image of you wonderfully burned in my mind.
The way you stood, the way you seemed – so beautiful to me

Time passed, We drifted, different places in life...

Though no hope remained and memories fade
I never forgot your beautiful face
Your eyes, your stare,
Your smile, your hair
Never was forgotten

Four years later I see you again
Though I’m afraid because I’m not the same man
Older, wiser, calmer, and kind
But who are you, this memory of mine?

When I held you I knew
I felt it inside
From my destiny and future I could no longer hide

What I offer you now, is simple at best
I promise I will always love you - above all the rest

I can’t promise money and wealth
I can’t offer material things
What I promise is to always be there no matter what life brings

For better or worse I will always stand by you
To lift you up when you fall, to protect you, and guide you

Please know my dear, I will always love you, never leave and never stray
My heart, mind, and body are yours; Yours in every way

My words here are so insufficient
I feel they fall so cold and so flat
And I'm sorry, my love, you deserve much more than that

But I love you! So at last let me say that You are my One, my True
I now see happiness as a life spent with you

Author Comments:     I met the love of my life on New Years eve several years ago. We lived on opposite sides of the country and tried to date but we were too young. We reconnected 4 years later and fell in deep love and will be engaged soon....
